Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Pamela Smith McBride MMM, CD
Lieutenant-Colonel (Ret’d) Pamela Smith McBride enrolled as an Administrative Clerk in the Canadian Armed Forces in January 1980 after spending time with the Navy League Wrenettes, the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets as a Cadet Instructor Cadre Officer and the Naval Reserves in Windsor, ON.  

She was offered her commission as a Logistics Officer in 1984 and retired in 2012 after almost 38 years of service, primarily in the RCAF.

Highlights of her career included a six-month tour in Egypt as the Logistics Officer with the Canadian Contingent of the Multinational Force and Observers, a year long deployment in the Golan Heights in Israel as the Deputy Commanding Officer with the Logistics Battalion, UN Disengagement and Observer Force on the Israeli/Syrian border, and a four-month exchange with the Royal New Zealand Air Force. She was privileged to be serving as the Deputy Wing Commander and Wing Logistics Officer at 9 Wing/Canadian Forces Base Gander during 9 -11 as the town brought in over 8000 guests from all over the globe. She retired as the Wing Administration Officer at 14 Wing Greenwood, the first and last Base/Wing that she had the honour to serve at.  

Lieutenant-Colonel (Ret’d) Smith McBride was invested as a Member of the Order of Military Merit in 1992. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Arts, was a graduate of the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College and earned a Master of Defence Studies from the Royal Military College of Canada. 

After retirement from the RCAF in 2012, she felt like she was coming home when she became a member of the Board of Directors, Windsor Branch of the Navy League of Canada. She is currently the President of the Navy League of Canada, Ontario Division. In her “spare” time she enjoys playing competitive volleyball, working as a travel consultant and travelling the world.
